The Port of Tyne ( Newcastle ) is situated 8 miles east of Newcastle City Centre on the north bank of the River Tyne.
The upto date Ferry Terminals operated by Fjord Line & DFDS Seaways deal with over 700,000 passengers a year & offer excellent facilities including covered walkways, check-in areas, & automated baggage handling.
The Commercial Container Port is situated on the south bank at Tyne Dock Estate.
The City of Newcastle offers great shopping and attractions, as well as a regenerated waterfront. It makes an ideal base for the wonderful surrounding countryside.
DIRECTIONS
Directions by Car
From the west follow signs to the City, & then signs for coast which leads to the A1058. Follow signs to ferries & North Sea, which leads to the Royal Quays.

From both the north & south follow A19 to Tyne Tunnel roundabout which is north of the River Tyne, then follow signs to ferries & North Sea, which leads to the Royal Quays.
Directions by Train

Newcastle Central Railway Station is located in Neville Street which is approx 20 minutes away from the ferry terminal.
A shuttle bus ( no. 327 ) to the ferry terminal, operates from the end of the short stay car park 1 hour 30 minutes & 2 hours 30 minutes every ferry sailing. Current costs are £4 per person ( single journey ) which is paid to the driver.
Taxis are available at most times on the station rank.

Newcastle Coach Station is close by to the Central Railway Station where a shuttle bus to the ferry terminal can be taken..

Terminal Facilities
Terminal facilities include a Cafe, Bureau de change, Bar, Shop, Ticket Sales and Enquiries, Games arcade, Hot & Cold Drinks Vending Machines, & baby changing facilities. There is also an Link ATM at the nearby Royal Quays shopping centre located opposite the Burger King.
Car Parking
There is a secure car park at the quay by the terminal, which is payable upon entry by either cash or cheque.

Nearest Petrol Station

There is an Esso Service Station in Front Street, Chirton which is approx 1 mile to the North of the ferry terminal.
Open 24 hours a day.
Special Needs Information
As well as disabled access and toilets in the Terminal, ferries offer cabins with wheelchair access.
