SLOUGH, 0.5 miles north Major regional town which boasts a thriving town centre shopping centre complete with 2 separate shopping complexes, the Observatory & Queensmere & several large retail parks & superstores. Leisure facilities include a large multi screen cinema, ice skating rink, swimming pools & a busy night life centred around the High Street. To the east of Slough lies the commercial & industrial centre of the town, based around the huge Trading Estate. ETON, 2.5 miles south east( head north 1st ) Eton lies on the River Thames opposite Windsor. Dominated by the magnificent College which was founded in 1440 by Henry VI, Eton also boasts a wonderful high street, full of atmospheric historic buildings, antique shops & restaurants, & the Brocas, a popular riverside park. Well worth a stroll. WINDSOR, 1.5 miles south The Royal town of Windsor is dominated by it's magnificent castle, which dates back in parts to the 11th century. One of Britain's most popular tourist attractions, Windsor is full of historic lanes & buildings, & offers a fine selection of attractive shopping areas. The town also offers boasts a very popular river front, ideal for a pleasant stroll or boat trip up the Thames, & a large leisure pool complex. To the south of the town is the beautiful & ancient Great Park, which is freely open to everyone, the popular theme park Legoland, & a few miles further still the famous racecourse of Ascot. To the west, is Windsor's own racecourse by the riverside. BRAY, 3 miles south west The ancient riverside village of Bray, home of the rich & famous, offers many fine old buildings, pubs & restaurants. Also home to the famous Bray Studios, where many of Britain's finest horror films were made.
